Mistral AI Comes to Scholarly

Scholarly now supports Mistral AI models across the study workflows where model choice matters most. Students can pick an available Mistral model in AI Chat for source-grounded explanations, tutoring, and document questions, while Laureate members can use Mistral Medium 3.5 in Frontier Chat and supported Frontier creation tools.

Mistral AI is one of Europe's most important AI labs, and its models give students another strong option when they want a European AI model family alongside GPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok. For students comparing AI study tools, this means Scholarly now gives you more control over the model behind your study assistant without making you leave your workspace.

The Three New Mistral Models

Mistral Small 4. A fast everyday model with a large context window and optional thinking mode. It is available in AI Chat when you want quick, affordable Mistral answers.

Mistral Medium 3.5. A Frontier model built for stronger reasoning, source-heavy questions, coding help, and multi-step explanations. Laureate members can use it in Frontier Chat plus supported creation and research tools; eligible Enterprise workspaces use it under workspace policy.

Mistral Large 3. A premium Mistral model for chat. It is a strong alternate when you want careful Mistral output without using a separate thinking mode.

Where Students Can Use Mistral

AI Chat. Open any chat and choose an available Mistral model from the model selector. Standard Mistral Small 4 and Mistral Large 3 cover individual chat plans; Laureate includes 20 weekly Chat Frontier Boosts that can use Mistral Medium 3.5, while eligible Enterprise workspaces use it under workspace policy.

Frontier creations. Laureate members can choose Mistral Medium 3.5 for supported Deep Research, AI Slides, AI Video Lecture, and AI Infographic workflows. These uses count toward both Laureate's 75 total weekly creations and its included 20 weekly creation Frontier Boosts.
