Built for how people learn and retain knowledge
Scholarly is built on decades of research into how people actually learn. Every core tool — flashcards, practice exams, AI Chat — is designed around active recall and spaced repetition, the two techniques cognitive scientists consistently rank as the most effective ways to commit information to long-term memory. That is why a 30-minute Scholarly session usually beats two hours of passive re-reading.
The platform works across subjects. Med students drill anatomy and pharmacology, nursing students prep for the NCLEX, law students build casebook outlines, CS students practice algorithms, business students study finance and accounting, and language learners build vocabulary decks. Whatever you're studying, the same workflow applies: bring in the source, generate the study material, then practice until it sticks.
Scholarly runs in the browser on every device you own — laptop, tablet, phone — and syncs through your account, so the deck you make on your laptop is on your phone before you stand up. Study a few cards between classes, knock out a practice exam at the library, then ask AI Chat to walk you through the questions you got wrong — all from the same account, all on the same study material.
How students use Scholarly
From pre-med through bar prep, students at every level use Scholarly as their daily study platform.
Medical students
Convert First Aid, Pathoma, and lecture PDFs into spaced-repetition decks. Drill USMLE-style practice questions and chat with board-review materials.
Nursing students
Turn ATI packets, pharmacology notes, and care plans into NCLEX-style practice. Generate cheat sheets for clinicals and quick-reference decks.
Law students
Build casebook outlines, drill black-letter law, and run essay-style practice exams. Chat with hundreds of pages of supplements without re-reading.
College students
Whatever the major — psychology, econ, CS, history, biology — bring in the syllabus, generate a study plan, and start practicing the same day.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Scholarly learning platform?
Scholarly is an AI learning and knowledge platform for individuals and teams. Add your own material, ask questions, create useful work, and reuse it across the workspace.
Is Scholarly free?
Yes. Scholarly is free to start with no credit card required. The free plan includes 1 free AI creation and 1 free file upload — lifetime credits that don't reset — plus daily limits on AI Chat and practice questions. Premium includes 10 Standard AI creations each week, unlimited uploads, longer PDFs, and more Standard model choices.
How is Scholarly different from ChatGPT or generic AI tools?
General chatbots answer individual prompts. Scholarly keeps your sources and related work together across a longer project. Spaced repetition is available when you want to retain what you learn.
What subjects does Scholarly work for?
Anything you can put on a page or a slide. Students use Scholarly for medical school, nursing, law, computer science, business, engineering, biology, chemistry, history, languages, high school AP courses, and graduate exam prep like the MCAT, USMLE, NCLEX, LSAT, GRE, and bar exam.
Can I use Scholarly on my phone or iPad?
Yes. Scholarly runs in the browser on iPhone, iPad, and Android — nothing to download or install, just sign in. Everything syncs across devices in real time, so a deck you build on your laptop is ready to study on your phone the next time you open Scholarly.
Can I export my flashcards to Anki or Quizlet?
Yes. Creating and studying decks follows the normal free-plan allowances. A paid plan is required to export, download, or print flashcards as an Anki .apkg file, Quizlet-ready CSV, or PDF.
How does the AI know what's important to study?
Scholarly's models are tuned for academic content. They prioritize definitions, formulas, dates, cause-and-effect relationships, and exam-relevant concepts — the things that actually show up on tests. You can always edit, regenerate, or delete cards if you'd rather focus somewhere else.
Is my study material private?
Yes. Anything you upload is private to your account by default. You can choose to publish a deck to the public Explore section if you'd like to share it with classmates, but nothing is made public unless you opt in.
